Matt Rhule leaves Temple for the New York Giants

Co-offensive coordinator Matt Rhule has left the Temple football program and accepted the assistant offensive line coach position with the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants.

Rhule was the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator last season under first-year head coach Steve Addazio. Rhule was the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and defensive line coach at various times during the Al Golden era.

Rhule was thought to be Addazio’s eventual successor in certain circles but Temple’s move to the Big East might have put that talk to rest as the school will now be able to throw some money at Addazio if and when his name came up in the coaching carrousel.

While nothing official has been announced by the program, it is more than likely that Ryan Day will assume sole ownership of the offensive coordinator position.
